How to Arrive
to Komchen

There are
several ways to arrive to Komchen.
We will explain the
most convenient route depending of your way of
transportation and the origin of your trip.

From
Progreso
|
|
|
By Road.-
- In
Bycicle.-
Take the road direction Telchak Puerto and Dzilam de
Bravo. Pass through the Chicxulub, Huaymitún,
Playa San Benito villages and when you get to the beach
of Xtampú go right, admire the flamingoes and
herons that populate the Laguna Rosada that feed
themselfs between some traditional Salinas. At the end of
the Laguna and if you have time it deserves to pay a
visit to themayan ruins of Xcambó. 8 kilometres on
the Xtampu-Dzemul road at your right you will find the
main entrance of Komchen, 200 meters before the
entrance to the village of Dzemul.
- Own
Car.-
Same way as in Bycicle.
- Taxi.- A
very reasonable price for the trip will be arround US$ 30
to nagotiate if it includes a visit to the ruins of
Xcambó.
- Public
Transportation.- Get on a 'Colectivo' or 'Pesera'
that goes to Telchak Puerto, from there get one that goes
to Dzemul and descend al the end of the village of Dzemul
just before the road to baca and Mérida
starts.
From there you need to walk 200 meters in the
Xcambó and Xtampú direction (north) to find
the main entrance to Komchén.

By
Road.-
- In
Bycicle.-
Take the road direction Motul and around 32 kilometers
later al the gas station turn left in Baca, get to the
central Plaza and in the same direction follow the road
to Dzemul another 15 kilometers, and 200 meters from the
entrance to the village over the new road to
Xcambó and Xtampú you will find the main
entrance to Komchen at your left.
- Own Car.-
Tiene una estupenda carretera a la puerta.
La carretera es yendo desde Mérida a Motul, es una
como autopista bastante buena (a nivel de Yucatán,
claro).Te sales en Baca y ahí tiras hacia el
norte, hacia el mar... pasas un sólo pueblito que
es Sacapuk, y sigues como si fueras a Dzemul... pero un
kilómetro antes de entrar a Dzemul la carretera
gira a la izquierda y va derechito hacia las ruinas mayas
de Xkambó, y las playas de Telchak Puerto.
En ese tramo desde que giras a la izquierda hasta la
playa, que son 15 kilómetros, es donde queda
Komchen. La carretera lo atraviesa en una longitud de
casi 2 kilómetros, o sea es Komchen tanto a
derecha como a la izquierda de la carretera.
En los mapas viejos esta nueva carretera no aparece, ya
que es muy reciente.
La carretera se
llama Dzemul-Xtampú.
Son unas 30
hectáreas, nada más lo del lado derecho de
la carretera, entre Komchén y el pueblo,
porque del lado izquierdo está el total de
Komchen, o sea unas 300 hectáreas...
Si llegas al Aeropuerto de Mérida, también
podemos enviar un auto a buscarte (esto tiene un costo
extra de MX$ 400.00).
- Taxi.- Un
precio razonable por ese recorrido serían
alrededor de MX$ 300.00 a negociar incluyendo la parada
en el supermercado para abastecerse de productos que
sería difícil conseguir en las tiendas de
abarrotes del Pueblo de Dzemul.
- Colectivo.-
Las Combis salen de la Calle 52 ÷ las calles 65 y
63. Cuestan alrededor de MX$15.00 (año 2000) y
tienes que esperar a que se junten los 9 pasajeros. En
ocasiones es posible negociar con el chófer y
pagarle los lugares libres y salir al instante.
